The short version
- We collect what we need to find, book and run local services: your phone number, profile, location when you allow it, bookings and payments.
- Businesses you book with never see your full phone number. Chat and calls stay inside the app.
- We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t send promotions unless you switch them on.
- Your health records are visible only to you and the clinic that treated you.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
1Who we are
The SOCIT mobile app and the website socitapp.com are run by SOCIT Private Limited (“SOCIT”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in India under the Companies Act, 2013 (CIN U62099TS2026PTC223668), with its registered office at Flat No. 101, Plot No. 553 & 554, Vyavasaayi, Ameenpur, Ramachandrapuram, Medak 502032, Telangana, India.
SOCIT is a marketplace that helps people discover and book local services, such as salons, pet grooming, car wash, gyms and clinics, and gives those businesses tools to run their day.
For the personal data described here, SOCIT is the data fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. When a business uses SOCIT to manage its own customers, that business is also responsible for how it uses the information it receives.
2What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your mobile number (we send a one-time code to verify it), name, and optionally your email address and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Addresses: addresses you save, including a map pin, so a provider can reach you for an at-home service.
- Bookings and plans: the services, times, staff and businesses you book, people you book for (for example a family member), gym memberships, day passes, class bookings and visit history.
- Reviews and favourites: ratings, comments and the businesses you save.
- Messages: booking chats with a business, support chats with SOCIT and your conversations with Cooper.
- Health information: if you book a doctor, the appointment details, and the prescriptions and bills the clinic shares with you through SOCIT.
Information collected as you use SOCIT
- Location: your precise or approximate location, only when you allow it, to show businesses near you. You can turn this off in your phone’s settings and enter an area instead.
- Payments: what you paid, when, for what, and the invoice. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner. SOCIT does not store your full card number or UPI PIN.
- Device and usage: your device model, operating system, app version, a notification token, IP address, and logs of errors and key actions, used to run and secure the service.
- Camera and microphone: the camera is used only to scan QR codes, for example at a gym desk, and the microphone only during an in-app call you start or accept. We do not store camera images or call audio.
If you list a business on SOCIT
- Your business name, address, location, photos, phone number, services, prices and opening hours, which we show publicly on your listing.
- Owner and staff names, staff photos and working hours.
- Verification details such as GSTIN, registration documents and UPI or bank details for payouts.
3How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show you businesses, prices, availability and offers near you.
- To make, change and cancel bookings, memberships and passes, and to tell you and the business about them.
- To take payments, issue GST invoices, process refunds and pay businesses.
- To run gym check-ins, streaks, freezes and class bookings.
- To provide chat, calls and customer support.
- To keep SOCIT safe: preventing fraud, fake bookings and misuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To fix problems and improve SOCIT, using aggregated or de-identified information where we can.
- To meet legal duties, such as tax records and lawful requests from authorities.
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up and use SOCIT and can withdraw at any time, and, where the law allows, for legitimate uses such as complying with the law and responding to emergencies.
4Cooper, our AI assistant
When you chat with Cooper, your messages and the information Cooper needs to answer, such as nearby businesses, services and availability, are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a reply. Anthropic processes this data for SOCIT and does not use it to train its models.
Cooper only suggests. It never completes a booking or payment without your confirmation. Your conversations are saved in your account so you can return to them. We keep technical records of Cooper conversations for up to 30 days to check quality and safety. Please don’t share passwords, card numbers or detailed medical information with Cooper.
5What businesses see
When you book a business, it receives what it needs to serve you: your name, the booking details, any notes you add, and your address for an at-home visit. A business sees only the last four digits of your phone number, never the full number. If you need to talk, you use in-app chat or an app-to-app call.
A business can see your past visits to that business and keep private notes about your preferences. Clinics see the appointments you book with them and the records they create for you. Businesses may not use your details to contact you for their own marketing outside SOCIT.
7Marketing and notifications
Service notifications, such as booking confirmations, reminders, check-ins and membership updates, are part of using SOCIT. You can manage them in your phone’s notification settings.
Promotional messages are off until you switch them on. Only SOCIT sends them, never a business directly, and only between 9 AM and 9 PM, with a limit on how many you receive each day and from each business each week. You can switch them off at any time in the app.
8How we protect it
- Data is encrypted in transit, and phone numbers and other personal details are encrypted in our database.
- Sign-in codes are stored only as one-way hashes and expire quickly.
- Only staff who need it can access personal data. Our staff console requires multi-factor sign-in and records every action.
- Booking chats are deleted automatically an hour after the booking ends. In-app calls go directly between the two devices and are not recorded.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
9How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open and you use SOCIT. Some data has a shorter life: booking chats are deleted an hour after the booking ends, and Cooper’s technical records after 30 days. Invoices, payment and tax records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even after you close your account. When we no longer need data, we delete it or make it anonymous.
10Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it
- correct, complete or update your data
- have your data erased, unless we must keep it by law
- withdraw your consent, which stops future processing but doesn’t undo processing already done
- nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to
- raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India
Most details can be changed directly in the app. For anything else, email support@socitapp.com from the address or about the phone number on your account. We may need to verify that the request comes from you, and we aim to respond within 30 days.
11Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, in the SOCIT app:
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Delete account, below Sign out.
- Review what will be cancelled and any refund due, then confirm with the one-time code we send to your phone.
What happens next
- Straight away: you are signed out on every device, your profile is hidden from businesses and you stop receiving notifications.
- Bookings and plans: upcoming bookings, gym memberships and class bookings are cancelled, and any refund is paid under our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
- Within 30 days: your personal data is permanently deleted or anonymised. Reviews you wrote stay, but are shown as “A SOCIT customer”.
- What we must keep: invoices, payment and tax records, for as long as Indian law requires. They are kept securely and used for nothing else.
Can’t use the app? Email support@socitapp.com with the subject “Delete my SOCIT account” and the phone number you signed up with. We will verify that the account is yours and delete it in the same way. If you run a business on SOCIT, pending payouts are settled before the business account is closed.
12Children
You must be 18 or older to create a SOCIT account. A parent or guardian may book services for a child from their own account, and is responsible for the information they provide about the child. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children, and we do not track children or show them targeted advertising.
13This website
socitapp.com has no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, cookies or sign-up forms. Its Cooper examples run in your browser and send nothing to us. If you pause animations, that choice is remembered in your browser tab only. The homepage counts visits as one shared total in Cloud Firestore, with no cookies, identifiers or IP addresses stored. The site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which processes standard request information, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect it. See Google’s privacy policy. Email links open your own email app, and we receive only what you choose to send.
14Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as SOCIT changes. When we make a significant change, we will tell you in the app or by notification before it takes effect. The effective date at the top always shows the current version.
